Needed only to build a catalog. Players who load a catalog file need nothing.

Optional. Adds awards text and domestic gross. 1,000 lookups a day.
Content rating ceiling
Applies to database searches only. Pasted titles are checked separately when you lock the field.
Setting a ceiling also drops anything with no US rating on file, which quietly removes a lot of older and foreign titles. Either way, anything rated NC-17 or X is caught when you lock the field, however it got into the list.
Saved progress
This site keeps your session so you can stop and come back.
Progress saves by itself a moment after each pick. Anyone with your resume code can open that session, so treat it like a door key rather than a password.

Everything is optional. Separate names with commas or the word "or".
Within a field the names are an or — three actors finds anything with any one of them. Across fields it narrows: actors plus a year range means both must be true.

You do not need exactly 64. Anything from 8 upward works — the bracket sizes itself to 8, 16, 32 or 64 and the top seeds take a bye through round one. Sixty-four is the ceiling; past that you will be asked to trim.

Update keeps the same identity, so sealed files and results other people already hold still line up with it. Save as new starts a fresh identity and orphans them. Either way the bracket is rebuilt, so any play in progress is reset — export and re-upload afterwards.

The board
Four regions converge on the centre. Winners are lit, beaten films are struck through, and the matchup you are about to judge is outlined.
Champion
A bracket crowns a winner, but it does not rank the field. Half the round of 16 went out on a single loss with nothing to separate them. The finals replay those sixteen so that losing a match drops you a tier instead of ending your run — sixteen matchups, no film out after one loss, no repeat of a pairing you already judged.

Four tiers of four
Every film played at least twice and none was dropped after a single loss. Settle a tier to put its four in order — four more matchups each. For a 1 to 10 you only need the top two or three tiers; anything left unsettled you can drag into place on the results page.
Results
Every pick anyone has ever made is stored as a single head-to-head ballot. Merging is just adding ballots together, so the ranking is recomputed from raw comparisons rather than averaged from someone else's ordering.

Everything visible straight away. Use this for sending results back to whoever started the bracket.
On the seal. This app keeps the file shut until the recipient has finished, which is enough to stop anyone spoiling themselves by accident. It is a courtesy lock rather than encryption, so somebody determined enough could pick the file apart in a text editor.
Publish to a link
Put the exported file on a web server and hand out a URL instead of an attachment.
Set a code and the three Export buttons above will name the file after it. Upload that one file beside your page, and the link opens straight into the bracket. One code per file, so use a second code if you want to publish both the films and a sealed copy.
